Without a doubt this is the best Mark Knopfler Bootleg i've heard in a while and it's from a rare charity concert. A great soundboard recording, directly from Mark's in-ear monitor, which makes his voice and guitar pristine clear. The lineup is: Mark Knopfler, Guy Fletcher, Glenn Worf and Richard Bennett performing without a drummer for a sold out crowd at Boothbay Harbor's Opera House. Mark plays an amazing version of Mabletown and Whoop de doo is simply breathtaking, all among other songs he'd never played live before.

Mark Knopfler & Eric Clapton - Music for Montserrat

September 15th, 1997, Royal Albert Hall, London, UK

Soundboard

On September 15th, 1997, Royal Albert Hall in London was the venue for the benefit concert Music for Montserrat, organized by Sir George and Lady Martin together with Harvey Goldsmith to raise money to help the victims of the Soufriere Volcano on Montserrat’s island erupting since mid 1993, Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton were two of the many guest artists for this event, Mark Knopfler played the Wild Theme with Guy Fletcher, but was edited out the VHS and DVD, I like this Wild Theme very much because mark did not play his Red Strat, he used his Les Paul and the sound and feeling of the song is very unique, really beautiful, judge by yourselves.

On this CD are only the songs they played whether together or by themselves, I have not included the ones where they were part of the band for someone else.

Tracks

Wild Theme - Mark Knopfler
Brothers in arms - Mark Knopfler
Money for nothing - Mark Knopfler
Broken hearted - Eric Clapton

This is a live recording of the fifth showcase that Mark Knopfler did to promote his new album "Kill to get Crimson". After Berlin, Madrid, Amsterdam, and London, the AVO Session Basel has the honour of being his host festival. The tickets were not sold, but could only be won in contests on TV, the internet and on several radio stations. On 24th December, Swiss radio DRS3 broadcasted the complete showcase. During the broadcast, there were some radio jingles between a few songs. Only to remove these jingles, the source from the earlier broadcast (13th November on Swiss radio channel DRS3) was used. These two sources combined result in a great 10 track recording which features the complete showcase. Soundboard recording with good sound quality.
