At the beginning of Walk of life, it is Mark Knopfler himself who is revealing the mystery: "This is where San Antonio is doing the walk, alright." And, at the end of Brothers in arms Mark says: "Thank you San Antonio, thank you!". Amazing! Great sound, complete show!"

Dire Straits - Rotterdam '78

1. Down to the waterline
2. Six blade knife
3. Water of love
4. Once upon a time in the west
5. Lady writer
6. In the gallery
7. Wild west end
8. What's the matter baby
9. Lions
10. Sultans of swing
11. Eastbound train
12. Southbound again
13. Dutch radio reporter

This is a very good sounding radio recording from Holland when the first Dire Straits LP had been released. Note that Once upon a time in the west and Lady writer were played one year before the release of Communiqué. The version of Eastbound train is really excellent! This bootleg is a bit more complete than "Rotterdam 1978" as this one also includes a great version of Southbound again and the closure of the radio broadcast by the radio reporter.

PERFECT soundboard! You won't believe your ears when you listen to this jewel! This recording has got the same high sound quality like for example the official live CD "On the night" with the exception that this is an almost complete concert (unfortunately Money for nothing is missing). It's a secret soundboard recording from Oslo 1992. For a very long time, the exact recording date of this show was a real mystery. In contrast with "On the night", this is absolutely unedited: no mixing, no overdubbing and with all the little mistakes. Great to have, a must for all true fans!

This soundboard recording has absolute amazing sound! Taken from a TV broadcast. Great concert including very nice versions of Single handed sailor and Follow me home. Notice that they played Sultans of swing twice because Mark was very unhappy with the way he played it the first time: "Alright now, let's do this Sultans and do it properly..." Very rare that this happens! The atmosphere is terrific on this concert, a must to have! Complete and uncut show.

Mark Knopfler has won the Dutch Edison Award for his entire career (category Pop). He received this awars during a live show which was also broadcasted on television. Very nice because Mark was the last one to be on stage and played 3 songs live! After Mark ended What it is the band stopped for about one minute, the 'we want more' came, and then he re-started that song from the middle. Very remarkable and played very cool!

Chris Barber Jazz Diaries BBC

Soundboard

BBC Radio 2 studios Maida Vale, London, UK

February 5th, 2001

This is a very nice radio show that Mark Knopfler did for Chris Barber in his radio show the Jazz Diaries. They recorded four songs exclusively for this show, two instrumentals and two with vocals. Interesting to hear Mark Knopfler play with a jazz band and nice interview in this one hour show. Mark Knopfler joins at about half time in the show - the part about Mark Knopfler is from track 8 to track 18. Goin' home is not the Mark Knopfler song, and it is played only by the Chris Barber Band, also recorded exclusively for this radio show. Perfect sound quality.

Live on Radio 2 Music Club, BBC

Recorded: October 2nd, 2007

Broadcasted: November 19th 2007

Soundboard

Live recording of the fourth showcase that Mark Knopfler did to promote his new album "Kill to get Crimson". After Berlin, Madrid and Amsterdam, Mark Knopfler performed an intimate showcase in London before a select audience of around 80 people. Songs were interspersed with short Q & A sessions with BBC Radio 2 DJ Simon Mayo. The showcase was recorded for BBC Radio 2 and broadcasted on the 19th of November on the program "The Music Club", presented by Simon Mayo. The showcase also featured the song "Our Shangri-La" (played before "So far away") which was recorded but unfortunately not broadcasted. But... this soundboard recording amazingly found it's way outside the studio and is now added to this CD as a bonus track! Very nice to see "Wild Theme" and "So far away" (in a version I personally like a lot more than the version from the previous tour!) in the setlist. Very nice showcase with a relaxed Mark Knopfler telling about the the person Rüdiger, the album and other things. Funny thing is that Simon likes the song "Eastbound train" very much and Mark played a small part of the intro for him! Soundboard recording with good sound quality.

Setlist:

1. Intro
2. Donegan's gone
3. Rüdiger
4. Interview/band intro
5. True love will never fade
6. The fizzy and the still
7. Let it all go
8. Interview
9. Local hero
10.Postcards from paraguay
11.Interview
12.Brothers in arms
13.So far away

Los Angeles 2001, May 20th 2001

A really rare and amazing good recording, taken from Mark Knopfler's In Ear Monitor (IEM). On this recording, you can hear exactly what Mark hears when he's on stage. His voice and guitar are obvious very clear on this recording. It's a soundboard recording, but it isn't from the "Front-of-house" soundboard, but from the "Stage Monitor" soundboard. Since these signals are separate monitor board mixes sent via a wireless frequency to the receiver pack that each musician wears, anyone with a wireless multi-channel receiver can record it as long as they know the frequency. And that's what probably happened during this show. What makes it even more unique is that this recording also features guest appearances of Jackson Browne on Sailing to Philadelphia and Bonnie Raitt on Prairie Wedding and Pyroman. Bonnie plays beautifully haunting slide guitar on Prairie Wedding and sings a high vocal harmony in the chorus. After the song Mark says: "Stick around Bonnie, stick around" followed by Pyroman on which she also plays great slide guitar. Very interesting concert, and an even more interesting sound source! Complete setlist.

Setlist:

DISC ONE:

1. Calling Elvis
2. Walk of life
3. Rüdiger
4. What it is
5. Romeo and Juliet
6. Sultans of swing
7. Band introduction
8. Done with Bonaparte
9. Sailing to Philadelphia (Jackson Browne)
10. Junkie doll

2. Prairie wedding (Bonnie Raitt)
3. Pyroman (Bonnie Raitt)
4. Telegraph road
5. Wag the dog
6. Money for nothing
7. So far away
